Las Cruces Near Top of Best Cities List for K-12 Teachers 2017

Las Cruces ranks #22 on the list of 100 U.S. cities for teachers to live and work in the 3rd annual "Best Cities for K-12 Teachers" report by consumer research website,

GoodCall reports it reviewed data from 689 cities nationwide, and Las Cruces was featured within the top 3.2% for its educational values, K-12 teacher salaries and job availability, amenities, affordability, and low unemployment and crime rates.

“Teachers are the backbone of education. Theirs is a hard, yet rewarding endeavor that they perform with passion and dedication. This ranking shows Las Cruces is a prime location for teachers, who are among our most valuable resources,” said Mayor Ken Miyagishima. “This impressive national ranking reinforces what I have been saying for years, that Las Cruces is a great place to live, work, receive an education, play and raise a family.”

This latest Las Cruces ranking joins the list of others that include: Forbes/Milken Institute - Best Small Metro Area for Business & Careers; US News & World Report, National Universities Rankings – Tier 1 Institution (NMSU); AARP - Top 10 Sunny Places to Retire; Sunset Magazine – 20 Best Towns of the Future; and KaBOOM! In partnership with the Humana Foundation –Playful City USA.
