Arts and Culture Open House 2017

Share your thoughts on the vision, goals, impact, and importance of arts and culture activities in Las Cruces at an Arts and Culture Open House event from noon to 7 p.m. on October 18, at the Museum of Nature and Science (411 N. Main Street). Parking is available on Main Street or accessed from Water Street.

The Arts and Culture District Coordinating Council (ACDCC) invites all community members to help shape the future of arts and culture in Las Cruces. Members of the Council represent area leaders in arts, culture, historic preservation, tourism, and leisure activities.

“We are very excited to move forward on preparing to designate an arts and cultural district that will benefit the quality of life of Las Crucens and spur more economic development on Main Street and in the Mesquite neighborhood,” said Andy Hume, chairman of the ACD Coordinating Council and downtown coordinator for the City of Las Cruces. The boundaries of the proposed district are: Picacho Avenue (north), Mesquite Street (east), Amador Avenue (south), and Water Street (west).

The open house meeting format allows people to visit at a time that is most convenient to them. The informal setting promotes more conversation and storytelling, as well as opportunities to examine maps of art and culture sites, talk with arts leaders, discuss detailed input on future growth and impact of arts and culture in the city. This process will culminate in a Cultural Plan for the Las Cruces Arts and Culture District.
