The Branigan Cultural Center to Feature the “Mirage” Exhibition 2018

An exhibition titled“Mirage,” featuring works on paper by Ellen Wetmore, will be on display from Feb. 2 until March 24 at the Branigan Cultural Center, 501 N. Main St.

A reception for the opening of “Mirage” will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Feb. 2 during the Downtown Ramble.

Wetmore, a mixed media artist from Groton, Massachusetts, creates a visual diary of her visit to New Mexico. Using marble paper and ink drawing techniques in her exhibition, Wetmore creates personal reflections of desert landscapes and impressions that are both surreal and familiar.

“I call this exhibition ‘Mirage’ because the images aren’t always what the viewer thinks they are. Longer looking is rewarded,” Wetmore said.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Information about the exhibition can be found at: http://las-cruces.org/museums, or by calling Branigan Cultural Center, 575/541-2154.

Anyone with a physical disability who needs an accommodation to fully participate in the event should call the museum 48 hours before the event.
